Longfield Lake

wp0_wpc9374376Originally dug for the gravel, this fifty peg, tree lined, attractive lake is sheltered and quiet probably due to the walk to the water. The most common species are Bream and Tench with Carp, Roach, Perch, and Pike also present. Large catches of Roach were once possible but the attention of cormorants in recent years has made this water predominantly a large fish water.

wp0_wp8c92f124-150 lbs nets of Bream are not unusual with some individuals up to 7lb. Tench well over 6lb are caught regularly. Big ground-bait feeders with corn, worm, maggot or pellet on the hook will all tempt the Bream and Tench.

This is one of the few TDAFPS waters that will often respond well to balling in groundbait. You can, at times, have this delightful lake to yourself, as few are willing to walk past Haysden Lake.
