RIVER MEDWAY TONBRIDGE SPORTS GROUND

A narrower section of river is found here, as the Medway splits in two directions to encircle the sports ground. The depth is around 4ft, the flow is sluggish, especially in summer. All river species are present with good chub and specimen roach, bream bags of 50lb have been taken from Tinkers Island and behind the bowling green, but watch out for the carp and very large tench that patrol these areas. Hemp and caster takes good nets of roach in the summer months. This venue responds best to the little and often method of ground bait. If you ball it in, be prepared for a long wait for your first bite. Boats can be a problem for long pole users on sunny summer weekends,
