Haysden is a thirty acre lake dug in the 1960’s for gravel, one third of the bank is available for anglers providing forty-five pegs, the remaining two thirds of the lake side forms part of a nature reserve. Haysden is known by many as “a dads & lads water”, as it can be relied on to produce small Roach & skimmer Bream to whip and short pole using maggots or caster. There is a good head of Bream and a few large Carp, Tench, Perch and Pike for those willing to use baits that cannot be taken by the large head of smaller fish. Chub, Gudgeon, Barbel, Bleak and all other river fish can also be caught as this lake is engulfed by the nearby River Medway when the Leigh barrier is used to prevent Tonbridge from being flooded. Haysden Lake has been the venue for the Tonbridge AFPS open days and occasional matches.
It is available for club or league bookings.
Whip or short pole for small fish produces nets to 20lb. A feeder cast into deeper water will produce large bream and occasional Tench. Carp to 35lb have been caught, although most are elusive and require persistence to tempt them from the quiet nature reserve area. Some large fish estimated as mid 20’s have never been caught.
